New disinfection unit EVIDIS from Behr Hella Service provides a healthy climate in vehicles

Schwäbisch Hall, October 2008. The new disinfection unit EVIDIS from Behr Hella Service provides a healthy vehicle climate free of bad smells and bacteria. With this unit, the air-conditioning evaporator, ventilation system and vehicle interior can be disinfected quickly and safely, driving out the unpleasant smell that can arise on the evaporator with time due to bacteria and fungal infestation. The unit, which weighs two kilograms, is the size of a toaster and is suitable for all vehicles with a 12-volt vehicle electric system. It is connected to the cigarette-lighter socket in the vehicle interior. A cable with a length of almost one metre and fitted with a corresponding plug is provided for this purpose. To carry out the disinfection, EVIDIS is first filled with disinfectant. With the engine running, the doors closed and the air-conditioning system switched on in recirculated-air mode, EVIDIS atomizes the disinfectant. The mist is now transported from the interior, through the ventilation channels, to the evaporator surface, and eliminates bacteria and bad smells. After completion of the disinfection, EVIDIS switches off automatically. During operation, the unit needs just four to six amps of current; the overload protection is designed for eight amps. Behr Hella Service offers a starter pack which, in addition to the EVIDIS device, contains 24 bottles of disinfectant, as well as 48 scented sticks for inserting into the air outlet vents, and 24 mirror tags with notes about the service carried out for the customer.
