Versatile PAO compressor oils from Behr Hella Service
Schwäbisch Hall, February 2007. A regular supply of the correct lubricant is essential for the heart of every air-conditioning system. However, until now, the great variety different air-conditioning compressors meant that many different compressor oils were necessary. This is no longer the case with PAO-Oils from Behr Hella Service, because these synthetic oils are suitable for all air-conditioning systems of passenger cars, trucks, agricultural machines and construction machines. In addition to PAO-Oil 68 there is PAO-Oil 68 Plus UV, the added leak detection agent of which is advantageous not only for air-conditioning systems but also for garages. This is because the ability to cover lubrication and leak detection in a single step during air-conditioning servicing means that time and money can be saved during stressful daily work.
The PAO-Oils from Behr Hella Service are not hygroscopic. This means that they do not absorb any moisture and can therefore be stored for a long period after opening. Furthermore, they are compatible with other lubricants and reduce the noise level of the compressor. Due to the optimum lubricating properties and reduced coefficients of friction, the air-conditioning system has a higher cooling performance with lower energy expenditure as compared to using other oils. The PAO-Oils work reliably at operating temperatures between minus 68 degrees Celsius and plus 315 degrees Celsius.
How PAO-Oil 68 works: The molecules of this multigrade synthetic oil attach themselves to all metallic surfaces in the air-conditioning system, displace other molecules (such as oils, dirt) and form a thin oil film on the surface of the system components. “Since the PAO-Oil molecules join other molecules, this oil film is virtually just one molecule thick,“ explains Friedrich Danke, the thermal management expert at Behr Hella Service. “In contrast to many other oils, there is no danger here of oil accumulation in the evaporator, and the related reduction in cooling performance.” For UV leak detection, a concentrated, highly effective dye is added to PAO-Oil 68 Plus UV. The method of operation of the oil remains unaffected by this.
