The cooling of high-load motor oils by oil coolers or the guarantee
of an almost constant temperature spectrum brings considerable
advantages. Oil change intervals are extended and the
engine service life is increased. A basic distinction is made between
air-cooled and coolant-cooled types. Depending on requirements,
this latter type can be installed in the coolant box or
engine block or attached externally to the engine, gear, cooling
module or oil filter housing. Behr's latest design is a compact and
powerful stack-disc oil cooler. Since it manages without coolant
housing and is made completely of aluminium, its outstanding
features are its low weight and design space requirements. Its
capacity range can easily be varied by changing the number of
discs in the modular principle.
