Around four years ago, the joint venture company Behr Hella Service was introduced to the branch as a supplier of high-quality cooling and air-conditioning products, and has since made a name for itself on the market as a thermal management expert. With a comprehensive range of products, important cooperation partners and a powerful global sales network, Behr Hella Service is currently one of the leading suppliers of cooling and air-conditioning products on the independent vehicle parts aftermarket.
Behr Hella Service's product range comprises more than 6,000 items for vehicle air conditioning and engine cooling both for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. In the next few years, the product portfolio is going to be expanded even further. The segments charger intercoolers, radiator and condenser fans and filter-dryers in particular are to be extended. Already, Behr Hella Service covers around 80 percent of the passenger car market in Western Europe for coolant radiators, air-conditioning compressors and condensers. The company benefits from Behr's high original equipment competence in the field of engine cooling and vehicle air conditioning. On the sales side, on the other hand, the company mainly relies on the established Hella structures on the independent vehicle parts market. This means Behr Hella Service is represented in all the major world regions today: Europe, Asia/Pacific, North and South America as well as South Africa.
In addition, there are close sales partnerships with important manufacturers. Thus, for example, Behr Hella Service has been the exclusive sales partner of the Visteon Corporation for products for vehicle air conditioning and engine cooling since January 2008, and supplies the independent automotive aftermarket in Europe. From January 2010 Behr Hella Service will also be taking over the exclusive marketing of thermal management products for passenger cars and trucks from AKG in the world-wide independent vehicle parts market. “Thanks to these exclusive sales partnerships, we can further consolidate our strong market position in the field of thermal management,” says Gerwin Vilain, Managing Director at Behr Hella Service.
Alongside securing a consistently high product quality, Behr Hella Service sets particular store by high service quality – either in the form of technical services or attractive sales promotion for the aftermarket and garages. “Ongoing technical vehicle development means that the demands made on garages for repairs are growing all the time. We want to do justice to this through our products and services. It helps that with Behr and Hella we have two leading technology partners on board,” explains Jürgen Laucher, Managing Director at Behr Hella Service.

The joint venture combines Behr Service activities on the independent aftermarket and the air-conditioning sector of the Hella aftermarket organization. Behr and Hella each have a 50% share in the joint venture. The combination of Hella's global sales organisation with Behr's product know-how and the linking of activities in the field of vehicle air conditioning and engine cooling for the parts business is a consistent further development of the already existing cooperation between Behr and Hella in the field of climate control and front-end modules.
